Accrington Stanley played their way up the non league in the year 1970Stanley gained promotion in to the conference in the year 2003. They had been playing in the Lancashire Combinations league, Cheshire County Division Two and One, North West Counties Division and the Northern Premier league prior gaining promotion to the conference. They gained promotion in to the football league at the end of the 20905 – 2006 seaosn with a win against Woking.
